PIPPA PASSES, KY – The Alice Lloyd Eagles raced out to a 21 point halftime lead and coasted to a 95-54 victory over visiting Crown College last night.
In the opening half, five different Eagles connected on baskets in the opening 6:44. When freshman Connor Hoskins drained a trifecta, the score stood 12-2.
The score was 23-13 at the 7:38 mark when the hosts exploded on a 17-4 run over the next five minutes. When the dust settled, ALC led 40-17, and they would take a 41-20 lead into the dressing room at intermission.
In the second half, Alice Lloyd would make certain no drama remained as they outscored CC by 13 during the first ten minutes and led 69-35 with 10:15 remaining. From that point, the Eagles would cruise to the finish line.
For ALC (2-1), they were led in scoring by Alex Sergent who came off the bench to pump in a team-high 19 points. He was followed in double figures by Austin Crisp and Grayson Griffith with 11 and 10 points respectively. Six other Eagles contributed at least 7 points with Hoskins and Ryan House just missing double digits with 9 points each. Blake Smith added 8 points and a game-high 12 rebounds while Crisp and Sean Ross led in assists with 4 apiece.
Crown (0-2) was paced by John Boutchia’s game-high 20 points.
The Eagles connected on 55.2% (37-67) from the floor and an impressive 52% (13-25) from long range. They had 41 rebounds, 19 assists, and 15 steals.
CC connected on 32.8% (20-61) from the floor and 40% (10-25) from long range. They had 28 rebounds, 8 assists, and 8 steals. They also committed 25 turnovers.
The Eagles return to action this weekend when they travel to Georgetown, KY to play in the Jim Reed Classic. They will face Washington Adventist on Friday before playing the highly ranked hosts on Saturday.
