GEORGETOWN, KY – The Alice Lloyd College Eagles traveled to Georgetown over the weekend to participate in the challenging Jim Reid Classic. Following are summaries of the two games.

 November 11, 2016

ALC- 74, Washington Adventist- 96

Mason Pack

The Eagles faced a strong Washington Adventist Shock squad from Maryland in the opener and dropped a 22 point decision.

The Shock jumped out to a quick 16-6 lead and raced to a 47-33 lead by intermission. In the second half, Alice Lloyd battled hard but was unable to mount a comeback.

For Alice Lloyd (2-2), four players reached double figures. They were led by freshman Connor Hoskins with 13 points. Senior Mason Pack, junior Austin Crisp, and freshman Blake Smith each tallied 12 points apiece. Smith also led the club with 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

Washington (3-0) was led by Charles Vines with 22 points.

ALC connected on 40% (30-75) from the field and 32.1% (9-28) from long range. They also attempted just 8 free throws, hitting 5 (62.5%). They had 35 rebounds

WA connected on 42.8% (32-73) from the field and 41.4% (12-2) from long range. They iced the game from the charity stripe, sinking 20-24 for 83.3%. They had 46 rebounds.

ALC- 57, Georgetown- 74

The Eagles went from the frying pan into the fire as they faced the nation’s top rated NAIA squad in game two. The boys from Caney Creek put up a good fight against the Tigers before succumbing by 17 points.

The hosts raced to a quick 11-6 lead, but ALC battled back to only trail by three (20-18) following a Jake Allen old-fashioned three-point play at the 6:12 mark. Unfortunately, the Tigers closed the half on a 13-6 run and took a 33-24 lead at intermission.

In the second half, Georgetown increased their lead to 12 (42-30) in the opening 3:40, but ALC would respond and slice the deficit to just 8 (42-34) one minute later.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, GC would tighten up defensively. Over the next ten minutes, they outscored their visitors 24-12. When the dust settled, the Tigers led by 18 (66-48), and were never threatened again.

For ALC (2-3), they were led on the day by Connor Hoskins with 13 points. Allen was the only other Eagle to reach double figures with 10. Austin Crisp added 8 points and a game-high 5 assists while sophomore Sean Ross and Blake Smith each pulled down 5 rebounds.

Georgetown was led by Troy Steward with 21 points and Chris Coffey with 14 points and 21 big rebounds.

ALC connected on 35.5% (22-62) from the field and 33.3% (4-12) from long range. They also were 60% (9-15) from the foul line. They had 27 rebounds

GC connected on 38.6% (27-70) from the field and 24.4 % (10-41) from long range. They also were 66.7% (10-15) from the foul line. They dominated the glass as they had 52 rebounds.
