Union, KY: The ALC Eagles Golf Team played in the River States Conference Fall Preview at Lassing Pointe Golf Course in Union, Kentucky on Oct 10th and 11th. Eagles golfers had a strong first round, led by freshman Aaron Minor with a 77 and senior Tyler Brewer with a 78, to shoot 319 and stand in 6th position after the first round.

The boys from Caney shot 317 the second round, led by team captain sophomore Jared Albright and Brewer with 77’s. ALC held on to the 6th place position with a team total of 317 as they entered the final day of play

Unfortunately, after 6 solid rounds in a row at or below 320, the Eagle golfers had a bad round in round 3, shooting 338, to fall to 10th place of 11 teams with a 3 round total of 974.  Despite their disappointment, this is the best 3 round score ever by an ALC men’s golf team, and breaking 320 (average score per player less than 80) on a course that is not our home course shows tremendous improvement for the team.

Point Park and West Virginia University Tech tied for first place with 3 round scores of 919, with Point Park winning the team championship in a playoff. Point Park’s Max Kaminsky was the tournament medalist, with a 3 round score of 218.

Alice Lloyd individual golfers were led by Jared Albright’s 238, good for 23rd of the 60 golfers competing. Aaron Minor shot 243 for the 3 rounds, for 33rd while Tyler Brewer shot 250, for 44th place, Zac Hancock shot 251 for 46th and Justin Smith shot 259 for 51st place. Tournament results are posted here.
