Eagles fall 9-6 to OSU – Lima

PIPPA PASSES, KY: The Alice Lloyd Eagles lost a hotly contested 9-6 game in seven innings on Sunday at Pippa Passes, Kentucky.

In the top of the first, Ohio State- Lima grabbed the early lead, 1-0. The Lima attack began with a double from Justin Bonzani.

The Eagles answered OSUL with three runs of their own in the first. ALC scored on an RBI single by Hunter Millsap and a two-run double by Garret Gay.

The game was put away in the seventh, as Lima scored four runs, sparked by an RBI double by Johnny Schmook.

For the hosts, Gay had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the first and sixth innings.

Braden Goodwin recorded the win for Ohio State. He pitched one shutout inning. Goodwin struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.

Broderick Moore took the loss for the Eagles. He lasted 2 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

ALC uses big fourth inning to beat OSUL, 11-3

An eight-run explosion in the fourth inning lifted the Alice Lloyd Eagles to a convincing 11-3 win over Ohio State- Lima at Pippa Passes, Kentucky on Sunday.

The top of the first saw Ohio State – Lima take an early lead, 3-0. The big hits were a single by Austin Thomas and an RBI double by Shannon Conway.

The Eagles scored in the fourth on a two-run double by Ryan Lavy, an RBI single by Alan Silva, two errors, and a sacrifice fly by Alex White.

The hosts added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. A sacrifice fly scored Patrick Barnett to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Austyn Turner‘s double, plating Lavy.

At the plate, ALC was led by Barnett‘s hitting, as he went 2-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth inning and tripled in the fifth inning.

Josh Antwine got the win for the Eagles. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Antwine struck out two, walked one and gave up seven hits going the distance.

Wade Verhoff was the game’s losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out one.
