Williamsburg: KY– The Alice Lloyd Eagles traveled to Williamsburg to face the Patriots of the University of the Cumberlands. The hosts jumped out quickly en route to a 9-2 victory.

The hosts used an error and two hits to score 2 in the bottom of the first.

The Eagles got 1 run back in the second. Ronnie Saylor singled to open things up and was replaced by pinch-runner Austyn Turner. Turner then scored on a line drive single from Jake Woolwine. The visitors proceeded to have runners on second and third with one out, but Austin White hit into an inning-ending double play.

In the bottom of the inning, the Patriots gave themselves a huge cushion as they came away with 5 big runs on 4 hits. Suddenly, the score read 7-1.

The score remained 7-1 until the fifth inning. ALC’s Saylor came through once more as he smashed a double and was replaced by pinch-runner Caleb Mills. Mills then scored on a Patrick Barnett single. Unfortunately, the rally died after that as Woolwine grounded out to end the inning.

UC would ice the game by adding 1 insurance run in both the fifth and sixth innings.

For the game, the Eagles outhit their hosts 11-10, but hurt themselves by leaving 7 runners stranded on base and committing 2 costly errors.

For ALC, Saylor led the way with 3 hits, including 2 doubles. Barnett and Woolwine each added 2 hits.
Pitcher Josh Antwine suffered the loss on the mound.
