Amber Shepherd (1)RICHMOND, Ind. – The top seeded Indiana University East women’s basketball team defeated Alice Lloyd College 81-50 in the quarterfinal round of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament on Feb. 24. The game was played on the campus of Earlham College. 

In the first half, the game was tight as both clubs battled hard. IU East led by just four at halftime, 30-26.

Any hopes the Lady Eagles had of pulling off the major upset were dashed in the second half as the Red Wolves went on a 32-6 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to turn the tide in their favor.

For the victors (21-9), sophomore guard Kristen Miller was the leading scorer for IU East with 24 points. 

For ALC (12-18), junior guard Amber Shepherd led Alice Lloyd with 18 points. She added 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Taylor Arthur played a solid game as the sophomore center registered 14 points, 8 blocks, and 7 rebounds. Sophomore guard Bailey O’Brian chipped in with 7 points.

Alice Lloyd is scheduled to next participate in the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament on March 7. Tipoff time and location will be announced.
