Sara Robinson

Sophomore forward Sara Robinson scored a career high 15 points to spark the visiting Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles to a convincing 62-50 road KIAC win over the Midway University Eagles last night.

In the first half, the hosts jumped out quickly to an early lead. However, ALC settled down and quickly dictated the tempo with solid defense. They led 20-11 after one quarter of action.

In the second stanza, the visitors kept the pressure on as they were able to extend the lead. Alice Lloyd took a commanding 37-23 lead into the locker room.

In the crucial third quarter, both teams played even, but the visiting Eagles outscored their hosts 14 -13 to lead by 15 entering the last quarter.

The Midway Eagles played hard, but were simply plagued by their cold shooting and were unable to make a serious run to regain the lead.

For ALC (7-11; 2-5 KIAC) Robinson connected on 7-11 from the field enroot to her 15 point night. She added 6 rebounds. Also reaching double figures was junior Amber Shepherd with 14 points on 5-11 shooting.

Senior Megan Jones chipped in with 7 points and 4 steals while sophomore Taylor Arthur added 6 points and a game high 13 rebounds.

Midway (0-18) saw no one reach double figures. Amber Crumbie led her club with 9 points.

The game was decided from the field as ALC shot 44.6% compared to MU which only shot 25.8%
