The Alice Lloyd College Eagles journeyed to Cincinnati, Ohio on Tuesday to battle the home standing Cincinnati Christian University Eagles. In a tightly played matchup, the hosts held on to win 80-74.

In the first half, the game was controlled by CCU, and they slowly began to build their lead. When the hosts Aly Balser drained a three with 7:10 on the clock, their lead was fifteen (29-14).  However, rather than concede defeat, the visitors began to claw their way back. Sparked by 7 points from Carla Booth and 5 straight to end the half from Serena Nickell, ALC closed  the half on a 21-9 run, and trailed by just three (38-35) at intermission

 In the second half, the teams traded hoops until ALC guard Tailor Morgan’s bucket gave her squad a 46-44 lead with 14:01 remaining.

Unfortunately for the visiting Eagles , Cincinnati Christian produced a 18-3 run over the next seven minutes to vault in front by 13 (62-49). Alice Lloyd mounted a furious comeback to get within five (79-74), but time caught up with them.

For ALC (6-18; 2-10 KIAC), Booth played a stellar game as she led all scorers with 35 points, on 12-25 field goals (5-7 from long range), and a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe. Additionally, she added a team high 10 rebounds and contributed 2 assists and 1 steal. Nickell also hit double figures as she chipped in with 15 points on 7-11 shooting.

 For CCU (13-13; 6-6 KIAC), Beth Moorman led the way with 19 points.

On the night, Alice Lloyd shot 39.7% from the floor (27-68) including 38.9% from long range (7-18). CCU shot 35.5% from the floor (22-62), but 53.8% (7-13) from deep. Critically, they hit more free-throws (29-35) compared to the visitors (13-16).  Cincinnati Christian also won the battle of the boards, 48-27.

The next home game is Saturday as they face the Brescia University Bearcats. Tipoff is scheduled for 1pm. The Eagles return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Midway to face the Eagles of Midway College at 7:00.
