The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles journeyed to Rio Grande, Ohio to face the home standing Red Storm in a KIAC conference match-up. The hosts won by a count of 98-59.

From the beginning, things were against the Eagles. Bus problems on the way to the game forced the club to arrive just before tipoff, and the squad was never able to get things in gear.

In the opening stanza, poor field goal shooting by the visitors (25.9%) coupled with the Red Storm playing up to their moniker (56.8%), helped Rio race out to a commanding 50-23 lead by intermission.

In the second half, the Eagle’s shooting woes continued, and they were never able to mount a series challenge.

For ALC (6-12; 2-5 KIAC), Amber Shepherd led the way with 14 points, 3 steals, and 3 assists. Carla Booth chipped in with 10 points while Serena Nickell added 8 points and a team high 7 rebounds.

The Red Storm (13-6; 3-1 KIAC) placed six players in double figures, led by Alexis Payne with 15.

On the night, Alice Lloyd shot just 27.9% (17-61) from the field including 23.5% (4-17) from long range, and was a solid 84% (21-25) from the charity stripe. They also had 33 rebounds and 10 assists.

Rio Grande shot 52.9% (37-70) from the field including 41.7% (5-12) from long range, and was 65.5% (19-29) from the charity stripe. They also had 52 rebounds and 21 assists.
