The IU Southeast women’s basketball team completed its season sweep of Alice Lloyd College on Saturday, defeating the Eagles 83-68.

The game was close throughout the first half. The hosts led by as many as 7 only to see the Eagles battle back to lead by 4 (32-28) on a Megan Jones bucket. However, IUS closed the half on a 16-8 run and took a 44-40 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, Southeast picked up where they left off as they opened the half on a 12-4 run to jump ahead by double digits. Defensively, they held ALC to 28 points in the second half on just 29% shooting, and maintained their advantage the remainder of the night.

For Alice Lloyd (6-11; 2-4 KIAC), Carla Booth led all scorers with 27 points. She added a game-high 5 assists. Morgan Chesnut contributed 13 points, and hauled down a team-high 9 rebounds. Jones contributed 10 points.

The Grenadiers (13-6: 4-1 KIAC) out-rebounded the Eagles 51-41. IU Southeast shot 41 percent (29-of-70) from the field in the contest compared to 35% from the guests.

Heather Wheat had 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four blocks and four steals  to lead her club.
