The Alice Lloyd Women’s hoops team was back in action on Tuesday, November 11th as they made the trek to Pikeville to take on the Pikeville Lady Bears. Alice Lloyd kept it close early but Pikeville would eventually run away with this contest as the Lady Eagles were defeated, 109-75.

John Mills and the Lady Eagles were looking for their first 4-0 start in seven years. For the first seven minutes of the contest, ALC was able to stay within six of the home team (20-14). After that, Pikeville would gradually increase their lead throughout the rest of the half. Pikeville held a twenty-five point lead at one before Alice Lloyd would trim the deficit to sixteen at intermission (54-38).

ALC had high hopes for a comeback in the second half but it just wasn’t meant to be. Just as they had done in the first stanza, the hosts would expand their lead in the second half. The Lady Bears would outscore the Lady Eagles, 55-37.

ALC shot 36 percent on the night while Pikeville made 52 percent from the field. The Lady Eagles connected on 20 percent of their three pointers while converting on 52 percent of their free throws. UPike hit on 30 percent of their threes while making 55 percent of their shots from the foul line. Pikeville held a 63-42 advantage in the rebounding column.

Serena Nickell led the visitors (3-1) with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Carla Booth contributed 11 points while Madison Reed had 11 points and 7 rebounds. Amber Shepherd tallied 10 points.

Shakinah Gibson had 20 points for the Lady Bears (3-0).
