The Alice Lloyd Eagles traveled to Bristol, VA to face the Virginia Intermont Cobras on Tuesday in non-conference action. Below is a recap of the game.

April 10

ALC 10

VI 17

The two clubs slugged it out in Bristol. ALC Coach Scott Cornett’s squad put an impressive 10 runs on the scoreboard for the night, which usually equates to a solid win for the Eagles. Unfortunately, on this day, they were bested by the Cobra bats. When the smoke cleared, VI had registered an incredible 17 runs of their own, and they pulled away for the victory.

The game was knotted at 4 apiece until the fourth inning. That is when the hosts saw 7 runners cross the plate. ALC battled back, but was unable to reduce the deficit. The Eagles were outhit 19-15 and stranded 9 runners on base.

Will Leonard had a monster game as he smashed 3 hits that included 2 mammoth homeruns and drove in 3 RBIs. Devon Pelfrey, Brandon Arnold, and Kevin Smith each added 2 hits apiece.

On the mound, Wayne Sparks suffered the loss.
