The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles hosted the Milligan College Lady Buffaloes in a matchup played last night at the Grady Nutt Athletic Center. In a game that was tight for the first seventeen minutes, the visitors pulled away in the second half to win 87-68.

In the opening stanza, sparked by their 1-2 punch of Ariel Nickell and Gemma Gray, ALC played well, battling the Buffaloes bucket for bucket. The visitors then closed the half on a 16-6 run to take a 10 point lead (43-33) into the locker room.

In the second half, the hosts were dealt a huge blow when Nickell reaggravated a leg injury on the opening play of the half and was forced to the sideline for the remainder of the night. With their leading scorer and rebounder out of the game, the tide quickly turned in favor of the visitors. Milligan slowly increased their lead, which they maintained until the final buzzer.

For ALC (0-9), the senior Gray led all scorers with 26 points. Fiery junior Nickell contributed 11 points and a team high 7 rebounds, but all of her totals came in the first half. Freshman Misti Minix added 9 points and 4 rebounds. Senior Sara Burchell had a team high 4 assists.

Milligan (4-4) was led by Dorian Freeman with 18 points.

On the night, Milligan outshot ALC 51% (33-65) to 36% (23-64) and won the battle of the glass 53-32.
