Lady Eagles Fall at Home in Close Match

The Lady Eagles hosted Berea College in a highly contested matchup. The hosts played hard and had their opportunities before succumbing in straight sets: 27-25, 25-18, 25-10.

Lady Eagles Lose at Home

The Lady Eagles hosted Pikeville in a highly spirited matchup before a nice crowd. The hosts played hard, but fell in straight sets: 25-15, 25-9, 25-6.

Oct-9

Lady Eagles Beaten in Tri-match on Road

The Lady Eagles traveled to Wise, Virginia where they faced the home–standing University of Virginia-Wise Cavaliers, as well as St. Catharine. The first decision went to St. Catharine in straight sets: 25-6, 25-12, and 25-11. Fatigue showed in the second matchup with Wise, as the girls battled before falling 25-14, 25-7, and 25-14.

Lady Eagles Fall in Tri-match on Road in Season Finale

The Lady Eagles traveled to Midway, closing out their season by facing the Midway Eagles and the visiting Mountain State (WV) Cougars in two conference games. The first decision went to Mt. State in straight sets: 25-9, 25-5, and 25-15. A tough second matchup with the hosts was challenging on the girls, and they went down in straight sets: 25-4, 25-2, and 25-10. With the loss, the girls closed out the first season in school history.

Overall, the season was a success. All girls return for next year, and the coaches are looking to bring in more quality players to go along with the returning veterans. Their hard work should help the program prepare to enter the KIAC as a full–time member next season.It looks like excitement will be in the air as the Lady Eagles prepare to take the floor next season for exciting volleyball action!
