Kansas City, MO: The NAIA has announced that 126 women’s tennis student-athletes have been named 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Alice Lloyd College junior standouts Sara Burchell and Lydia Harris have both been named as recipients for this prestigious honor.

In men’s golf, 115 men’s golf student-athletes have been named 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Alice Lloyd College junior Casey Dalton has been chosen as one of the recipients of this honor.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

Burchell, a native of Manchester, KY, is a graduate of Clay Co. High School, and has maintained a 3.54 GPA at ALC. Sara is a Biology/ Pre-Pharmacy major, and is the daughter of James and Mary Anne Burchell. Burchell is a successful two sport standout, as she is also a member of the Lady Eagles Basketball team and received academic honors from that sport as well this season.

Harris is also from Manchester and a graduate of Clay Co. She has maintained a 3.83 GPA at ALC. She is a Biology major and is the daughter of Clint and Malvery Harris.

Dalton, a native of Nancy and graduate of Pulaski Southwestern High School, has maintained a 3.5 GPA. He is a Social Studies major and is the son of Danny and Sharon Dalton.
