The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles traveled to 16th ranked Brescia University on Saturday for a big conference matchup. ALC played well and had the score tied with only one minute to go, before succumbing to the Bearcats by nine, 84-75.

In the first half, Brescia star guard Brittany Bird, the second leading scorer in NAIA, poured in 17 points.  However, sparked by the duo of Ariel Nickell (Claiborne, Tn.) and Whitney Frazier (Louisa), the Lady Eagles hung tough and only trailed by three at the half (41-38).

In the second half, the game was tight throughout. With just over 1:00 remaining the score was tied. At this point, Brescia hit two free throws. After a Lady Eagle miss, ALC was hit with a crucial intentional foul call. BU then sealed the win by hitting their tosses from the charity stripe.

For Alice Lloyd (4-9, 0-2 KIAC), they were led by the freshman Nickell, who continued her streak of outstanding play by tossing in 27 points and ripping down a game high 12 rebounds. She received outstanding help from senior guard Frazier, who added 24. Brescia (11-5, 2-0 KIAC) was led by Birds game high 28, which included her connecting on an outstanding 15-16 from the foul line.
