Lady Eagles Fall in Final Seconds to KCU

The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles traveled to Grayson faced with the difficult challenge of playing NCCAA powerhouse Kentucky Christian University. In a contest that was a battle for forty minutes, ALC dropped a close 71-67 decision.{nl}Both clubs competed fiercely as the first half proved to be a battle in the trenches. However, fueled by their defensive tenacity, ALC was able to grind out an 8 point lead by intermission at 33-25.{nl}In the second half, the game remained close throughout. The Lady Eagles were able to push their lead to as much as 10 early in the half, but KCU, demonstrating why they are the defending national champions for their division, began to methodically work their way back into the game.{nl}KCU managed to grab the lead and extended it to four (67-63) at the 1:58 mark. At that point Lady Eagle forward Nicole Lutes completed a rare four point play to tie the score at 67. Lady Knight Kristin Hecht then responded with a bucket with just under a minute left to put her squad up by two. Following a miss by ALC, KCU connected on two free throws to ice the win.{nl}For ALC (3-8), three ladies cracked double digits. They were led in scoring by Lutes with 15 points.  Junior Whitney Frazier added 11 and sophomore Gemma Grey chipped in with 10.{nl}For KCU (8-3), they were led by Hecht with 12 points. {nl}ALC returns to action on Saturday, December 12th when they host NCAA Division II foe, Ohio Valley University. Game time is set for 4pm.
