The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles played host to the Pikeville Lady Bears Tuesday night, December 1st . In a game that was close for a half, ALC eventually came out on the short end of a 92-66 decision.{nl} In the first half, cold shooting placed the Lady Eagles in an early hole. When PC’s leading scorer, 6’0 forward Natiera Hinton connected on a long three at the 10:55 mark, ALC trailed 20-9. {nl}The next ten minutes provided some outstanding action. First, fueled by eight points from guard Gemma Grey, Alice Lloyd responded with a 12-3 run to reduce the deficit to two (23-21).{nl}The Lady Bears, sparked by 6’0 forward Whitney Compton, answered with a 12-4 run of their own and increased their lead to 35-25 with 3:20 left in the first stanza. Like a prize fighter, back came ALC swinging as they closed the half on a 10-2 spurt to enter the locker room trailing by only two (37-35).{nl}In the second half, PC exploded with a 15-2 run in the first 3:40 to increase their margin to 15 (52-37). Unfortunately for the home team, fueled by 4-4 three point shooting from Pikeville’s Compton, the  Lady Bears were able to shoot a torrid 67% from downtown in the second half .The  Lady Eagles were never able to get closer than 12 the rest of the way.{nl}For ALC (3-7), three ladies cracked double digits. They were led in scoring by junior Whitney Frazier with 18 points and 6 assists.  Sophomore Gemma Grey finished with 16 points and junior center Chelsea Jarrell, returning from an ankle injury, added 11.  {nl}For PC (5-3), they were led by Compton and Hinton with 27 and 23 points respectively.{nl}ALC returns to action twice next week. They travel to Grayson on Tuesday, December 8th to face the Lady Knights of Kentucky Christian University at 6pm. They follow that up with a home matchup on Saturday, December 12th vs. Ohio Valley University. Tipoff is at 4pm.
