{nl} Congratulations to Lauren Lucas, a junior at The June Buchanan School, for being selected to participate in the Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine Professional Education Preparation Program (PEPP). This program was established to assist high school and pre-college students from medically underserved areas who intend to pursue a career as a physician or dentist by offering a unique and exciting opportunity to experience a college environment, clinical/hospital activities, and the wonders of science and its application to careers in medicine and dentistry.Lauren will spend two weeks this summer studying the ten major human organ systems. Presentations will be made current PCSOM medical students focusing on anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, and pharmacology. The presentation of each organ system will include case-based problem solving exercises and pro-sections will be studied in the Human Gross Anatomy Lab. Lauren will also take part in observations in local clinics and hospital, as well as enjoy social activities and special presentations in the evenings.Congratulations Lauren on being accepted to this prestigious program!
