The June Buchanan School offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities for all students from kindergarten through high school. These activities include academically based teams and organizations, as well as various athletic teams. We strive to produce well-rounded individuals, and our extracurricular activities program is an amazing asset to our students.
The June Buchanan School offers students in grades 2-12 the opportunity to be a part of the Academic Team. Our students compete in Kentucky Association for Academic Competition sanctioned events, including Governor’s Cup, 6th Grade Showcase, and JV Challenge. The coaches for all three Academic Teams (Elementary, Middle, and High School) are Mrs. Cindy Hall and Ms. Natalie Gibson.

The Art and Cultural Enrichment Club is dedicated to students who have an interest in the arts, whether it’s music of any kind, theatre, dance, or the visual arts. It is considered an honors club at JBS, so there are three requirements:
Pretty easy, huh?! In its inaugural year (2010), the ACE Club visited the Cincinnati Art Museum, watched the Broadway show Frankenstein, traveled to the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, watched the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular, toured the Parthenon Replica, and visited Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville. We had a blast! And this year is planned to be even better….

The big tour for the ACE Club this year was a holiday trip to NEW YORK! The kids enjoyed touring Times Square and Rockefeller Center. They also attended the Broadway show Spider-Man! They cruised around NY Harbor/Statue of Liberty and visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Chinatown, and Central Park. There is nothing quite like Christmas in NY, and the decorations were beautiful!
Students at The June Buchanan School are giving the opportunity to audition for roles in all Alice Lloyd College productions, under the direction of Ms. Megan Burnett. Our students have stared in productions of Alice in Wonderland, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Antigone, and The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940.
June Buchanan School students can participate in Speech competitions throughout the year. Both the Middle School and High School teams are coached by Ms. Karen Bailey. While small in number, both of these squads have had continual success over the years, with multiple students competing at the state level.
Students at The June Buchanan School have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports and athletic activities. While some of our teams compete interscholastically through the KHSAA, other teams compete on an intermural level. Currently, JBS offers the following activities for our students:
