Alice Lloyd College

Planned Giving

Help us build a better Appalachia by giving the region’s young people a brighter future!

Our founder, Alice Spencer Geddes Lloyd, realized that a strong education was necessary for the Appalachian people to create economic growth and a better future. What greater investment could one make? By planning a gift to us, you will not only have an impact on the lives of our students, but also on the number of other lives that theirs will touch. Your gift is priceless, because it will not only change lives, but it will also work to shape the future of an entire region. The only thing preventing Appalachian students from gaining the promise and power that a high-quality education affords is an opportunity. Alice Lloyd’s tuition guarantee gives them that opportunity. Will you help us?

What is a planned gift?

June Buchanan, co-founder of Alice Lloyd College, once said, “Put us in your will, and we’ll pray you live forever!”

Many philanthropic-minded men and women include among their financial plans a program of planned giving to causes and institutions they hold dear — like Alice Lloyd College, for instance — in whose work they believe. Alice Lloyd College has received many thoughtful gifts from friends who give because they believe in our work, but who also realize that through careful planning they can achieve tax advantages that will cause their gifts to have even greater impact for the receiving organization as well as family.

Perhaps you are one of those philanthropic-minded people who have helped Appalachian students attending Alice Lloyd College, and you are now considering a “planned gift” to continue your support even after you are gone.

A planned gift is making a decision to set aside some of your monetary assets to become a future gift — usually a generous amount that would not be feasible during your lifetime — to a charitable organization such as Alice Lloyd College. Ultimately, a planned gift comes through some vehicle of estate planning: a will bequest, a trust fund, a life insurance policy, or a charitable gift annuity. Find out more about these types of gifts here.

Planned Giving Assistance

We would be happy to discuss personally with you the variety of planning opportunities which can benefit you today, while impacting the lives of Alice Lloyd College and June Buchanan students tomorrow.

Pippa's Society

Friends of ALC who participate in Planned Giving become members of our Pippa’s Society. Pippa’s Society members receive this beautiful figurine of “Pippa,” a small statuette bearing the likeness of the girl in Robert Browning’s “Pippa’s Song” from his famous dramatic poem, Pippa Passes.
