Alice Lloyd College is pleased to announce the creation of the Robert M. Duncan Leadership Institute established to honor Mr. Duncan’s lifelong commitment to mentoring countless individuals, especially in the areas of education, government, and business. Many leaders in Kentucky and across the nation have benefited from him selflessly giving of his time as a mentor. His mentorship has been prominently recognized, particularly his work with the Inez Deposit Bank Internship Program which has been featured in the Los Angeles Times and on national media. During his thirty-eight years of service on the Board of Trustees at Alice Lloyd College, and specifically as Chairman of the Board since 1990, hundreds of Appalachian students have received a high-quality, tuition-guaranteed education while participating in the College’s self-help work program. The Duncan Leadership Institute will incorporate a similar format that Mr. Duncan has used for four decades at the Inez Deposit Bank Internship Program: Earn, Learn, and Serve. Mentees will participate in learning opportunities and a service program, and may be provided internship opportunities.
