Ian T. Hall, the son of David and Cindy Hall of Raven, has been accepted for the 2013 Governor’s School for the Arts in the area of Creative Writing.

The June Buchanan School would like to congratulate Channing Everidge for being named a 2013 Governor’s Scholar. Channing is the daughter of Steve and Angie Spady of Leburn, and Jeff and Kathy Everidge of Hazard; she is currently a junior at JBS.

The June Buchanan School’s Elementary Academic Team has had a wonderful season this year by winning their District championship and claiming a good showing at Regionals.

At The June Buchanan School, all students are encouraged to set high standards for themselves and to continually work towards the achievement of their goals. One such outstanding JBS student who has been striving to fulfill his literary ambitions is Ian T. Hall.

The June Buchanan School would like to congratulate Channing Everidge and Ian T. Hall on their recent wins at the KAAC Regional Governor’s Cup Competition held at Estill County High School.

The June Buchanan Middle School Academic Team was back in action last week, competing at the Regional level. After sweeping the District Competition, the Crusaders were excited to defend their Regional Quick Recall title and earn a return trip to State Competition.

The 56th District Governor’s Cup Competition was recently held at Letcher County Central, and The June Buchanan School performed extremely well.

Students from JBS competed in the annual Governor's Cup Competition on Saturday, January 19th. They placed in every category in the District competition, and all members of the Middle Grade Academic Team advanced to Regional competition.

The June Buchanan School recently held its Homecoming festivities for the 2012-113 school year. Dora Stanley and Hailey Champion were crowned as the Middle School Princess and High School princess, respectively.

The June Buchanan School was awarded a $1,400 Youth Literacy grant by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The grant will be used to help local students improve reading skills.
