Alice Lloyd College held its annual Honors Day celebration on Tuesday, April 14th. During this special and time-honored assembly, students were recognized for their superior achievements in academics. Numerous awards were handed out for excellence in specific subjects and majors. Other prizes were also given, including the Billie and Curtis Owens Writing Awards and the Scholar-Athlete Awards. Awards for special achievements made by students in various organizations and community service projects were also announced.
This past weekend, the Alice Lloyd Eagle’s men’s tennis team hosted their second conference match of the year. This time, their opponents were the IU Southeast Grenadiers. IUS, who is the reigning champion from last season, came to play, but they were pushed hard by the host team.
On Friday, March 20th, 9 members of Alice Lloyd College's Phi Beta Lambda attended the State Leadership Conference held at the University of Pikeville. ALC's students and local chapter performed very well and received numerous awards.
Alice Lloyd College has been recognized under “20 Great Small Colleges for a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management.” In order to even be considered, colleges must offer a bachelor’s degree in sports management, have a student population of less than three thousand, and be a public, private non-profit, or 4 year school.
