The Alice Lloyd Eagles traveled to Kingsport, Tennessee to participate in the 2012 KIAC Tournament. In a double elimination format, the Eagles dropped two heartbreaking decisions, first to the Berea Mountaineers and then to the Brescia Bearcats to close out the season. Hyden, Pack, and Caldwell Receive USCAA Honors
The USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) has announced their Baseball All-American squad for 2011-12. Alice Lloyd College was well represented as junior Cody Hyden and sophomore Shane Pack were both named to the exclusive team. Hyden was selected to the First Team squad while Pack was tabbed Honorable Mention.

JBS’s Ian T. Hall Receives College English Award

Ian Tyler Hall, a sophomore at The June Buchanan School, took on the challenge this semester of registering for English 415, having completed only English 101. English 415 is a senior level English course at Alice Lloyd College. Ian enjoys literature and writing, so he wanted to further his studies in those areas by taking part in an advanced class. After speaking with Dean Clark and an ALC English professor, Ian convinced them that he was “well able” to take on the demands and responsibilities that awaited him. Read more »

JBS Elementary Visits the Zoo

webmaster On April 12th The June Buchanan School’s elementary Grades K-5 visited the Cincinnati Zoo for their yearly class field trip. Students enjoyed a day spent with faculty, parents, and creatures of all kinds! According to the Zoo’s website, over 1.2 million people visit the Zoo annually. JBS students were excited about being a part of that number as they visited more than 500 animal species and 3,000 plant species, which ranks as one of the largest zoo collections in the country. JBS Students Win Art and Penmanship Awards

Congratulations to the following JBS students for the awards they received in the 2012 Gingerbread Penmanship Contest. There were 109 entries from four county elementary schools. JBS Students Shine at KMEA Music Festival

webmaster The June Buchanan School’s music director, Wendy Saylor, and accompanist Beth Ann Bowers worked with JBS students in preparation for the KMEA (Kentucky Music Educators Association) Vocal Solo and Ensemble Music Festival. JBS seniors Tessa Amburgey and Sadie Haigler, sophomores Elizabeth Bentley and Madison Martin, and freshman Charity Cook competed and made several accomplishments in their vocal solos and duets.
