Eagles Finish Season with Two Big Wins

The Alice Lloyd College Eagles closed the regular portion of the season over the weekend with two big matchups. On Friday night, they traveled to face the Kentucky Christian University Knights. JBS Students Advance to State Speech Competition

On February 11th, Connor Jacobs and Ruby Yeary, members of The June Buchanan School’s junior division Speech Team, participated in Regionals at Knott County Central. Students tested their abilities in prose and duo acting. Jacobs and Yeary are first-year Speech Team members and decided to try something new by working each week on various speech skills. Their efforts seem to have paid off as Jacobs and Yeary both advanced on to State competition. Read more »


JBS Senior Competes in Texas

JBS senior Joshua Slagell traveled to LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas on February 9th to spend a weekend competing for the prestigious and highly coveted Heritage Scholarship. Slagell competed against 98 incoming college freshmen  — some of the brightest and best students in the nation — who were selected based on their ACT scores, interviews, and essays. More specifically, to attend this invitation-only event, Slagell had to score well on the ACT exam and have a cumulative high school grade point average of at least 3.65. He also had to enter by writing an essay and participating in a team-building leadership challenge judged by LETU faculty and staff and former Heritage Scholarship winners. As a part of this competition, Slagell has plans to major in either engineering, aviation, computer science, the arts and/or sciences. Read more »

Lady Eagles End Regular Season at Top-Seeded Asbury

The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles closed the regular portion of their season last night with a visit to top-seeded Asbury University. In a contest that went down to the wire, the Lady Eagles lost a nail-biter, 88-83. Read more »

Big Recruits Coming to ALC

The Alice Lloyd College Athletics Department has been working overtime this recruiting season. Men’s Tennis, ALC Softball, and Women’s Volleyball have already announced important signings, and now, Eagles Baseball and Women’s Basketball have begun a little name-dropping of their own. On February 1st, 2012, two Paintsville High School athletes decided to make Alice Lloyd College their home next season. Read more »

The Alice Lloyd College Eagles traveled to New Albany, Indiana to battle the defending KIAC conference champion IU Southeast Grenadiers Saturday evening. In a contest that saw the hosts on fire in the first half, the Eagles dropped a disappointing 110-76 decision. Read more »
