Hyden, Pack, and Caldwell Receive USCAA Honors

The USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) has announced their Baseball All-American squad for 2011-12. Alice Lloyd College was well represented as junior Cody Hyden and sophomore Shane Pack were both named to the exclusive team. Hyden was selected to the First Team squad while Pack was tabbed Honorable Mention. Read more »


Softball Closes Season in Conference Tournament

Graduation 2012

ALC to Hold Baccalaureate and Commencement Services

On Saturday, May 12th, Alice Lloyd College will hold its 30th Baccalaureate and Commencement.  Baccalaureate services will be conducted in the Grady Nutt Athletic Center Gym at 10:30 AM.  Commencement exercises will follow at 12:15 PM.  This year, Reverend Glenn Noe and Dr. R. Bruce Bickel are scheduled to address the 98 candidates for graduation. Read more »

Caney Creek Community Center Celebrates 95 Years

This year is quite a milestone in the history of the Caney Creek Community Center, as it marks the 95th anniversary of the Center’s founding by Alice Lloyd. The CCCC serves as the umbrella organization for both Alice Lloyd College and The June Buchanan School. For 95 years, the Center has served as a beacon of hope and learning for the residents of the Appalachian mountains. Read more »

Vietnam Veteran Speaks at JBS

The June Buchanan School had the opportunity to have as a guest Mr. Brady Slone, a Vietnam veteran, who spoke to instructor Larry Hayes’s history class this past week. Brady Slone was a former principal and art instructor in Knott County. Students in grades 8-12 had the privilege of hearing Slone recount his experiences as a medic during the 1968 Tet Offensive in which he served three months. A head wound ended Slone’s tour of duty. JBS Eighth Grade Visits the Capitol

On Friday, April 27th, The June Buchanan School’s 8th grade class visited the State Capitol. On the trip students toured the Capitol, viewing not only the intricate architecture of the facilities but learning more about how our state government works. Students were able to visit the Supreme Court, The House of Representatives, the Senate, the Rotunda (where Abraham Lincoln’s Statue stands), and the State Reception Room. Read more »


Eagles Softball Completes Regular Season Play

The Alice Lloyd College Softball team closed out the regular season over the weekend with two conference road doubleheaders. The ladies played at Berea on Friday, followed by a twin bill at Indiana University Southeast the next day. Following are recaps of each game played. Read more »
