LADY EAGLES LOSE TO PIKEVILLE AND KING COLLEGE
The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles played two good teams last week. On Tuesday night they lost to Pikeville College, 71-64, in a very good ballgame. The game was close throughout. Kaylan Richardson led the way with 16 points and 2 rebounds. Whitney Lykens (15 pts, 6 rebs) and Becky Thomas (10 p ts, 7 rebs) were also in double figures. PG Chastity Fox had 9 points and 4 assists. Taran Cody chipped in with 6 points and 5 rebounds. Tonya Amburgey led the way for Pikeville with 22 points.
On Thursday night, the Lady Eagles hosted King College (TN). The Lady Eagles trailed 31-29 at halftime, but King broke the game open midway through the second half for a 82-64 win. Richardson led the team with 18 points and 4 rebounds. She was followed by Thomas with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Lykens was also in double figures with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Cody had 8 points and 5 rebounds.

LADY EAGLES BEAT MID-CONTINENT
The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles won their only game last week in a 70-53 win over Mid-Continent University. The game was tied at 28 at halftime, but the Lady Eagles outscored the Lady cougars 42-25 in the second half for the win. Becky Thomas led the way with 18 points and 7 rebounds. She was followed by Whitney Lykens with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Chastity Fox (10 points, 6 assists) and Elisha Hall (11 points, 4 steals, 4 rebounds) were also in double figures. Taran Cody had 9 points and 8 rebounds.

LADY EAGLES PUT UP BIG NUMBERS WITH THREE WINS
The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles won three of four games last week. On Monday night, they hosted Freewill Baptist College from Nashville, TN and came away with a 104-56 win. Whitney Lykens, Kaylan Richardson, and Sierra Wynn each scored 16 points. Becky Thomas had 12 and Chastity Fox and Cassie Whitaker each scored 10 points in the game.
On Wednesday night, the Lady Eagles hosted Montreat College and came away with a 91-63 win. Thomas scored 28 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the game. Lykens (22 points) and Richardson (11 points) were also in double figures.
On Friday and Saturday, the Lady Eagles traveled to Bluefield College (VA) for a tournament. On Friday, they lost to Point Park (PA) by the score of 93-80. Lykens led the way with 20 points. Leisha Hall had a good game with 15 points. Taran Cody and Richardson each scored 10 points.
The Lady Eagles got back on the winning track on Saturday with a 120-25 win over Warren Wilson College (NC). Lykens and Richardson had 19 and 17, respectively. Wynn pitched in with 15 points. Tabatha Sprouse was also in double figures with 12 points.
This week, the Lady Eagles’ only game will be on Tuesday night against Mid-Continent University. The game will be played on a neutral court at Spalding University in Louisville.

LADY EAGLES LOSE TO UV@WISE
The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles hosted the UV@Wise Lady Cavaliers last Thursday night in a very exciting game that went down to the wire, losing 77-71. Becky Thomas had an outstanding game with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Whitney Lykens continued playing well with 22 points and 3 rebounds. Other stats: Kaylan Richardson (9 pts, 3 rebs, Elisha Hall (8 pts, 3 rebs), Chastity Fox (5 pts, 2 assists), Taran Cody (5 pts, 6 rebs), and Cassie Whitaker (2 pts).

ALC EAGLES AND LADY EAGLES BASKETBALL SEASONS TIP OFF
Kentucky Christian, Pikeville College Early Season Opponents
Basketball season gets under way this Tuesday night at the Grady Nutt Athletic Center in Pippa Passes as the men’s and women’s teams tip off with a doubleheader against Kentucky Christian University. The women’s game will begin at 5:30 followed by the men’s game around 7:30. On Thursday night the women will host Brescia University at 6:00 followed by the Eagles hosting long-time rival Pikeville College at 8:00. On Saturday, the Eagles will travel to western Kentucky to play Mid-Continent University.

ALC Lady Eagles Win Bluefield Tournament
The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles played this past weekend in the Bluefield College Tournament. They beat Point Park 77-66 on Friday night and then won over Bluefield 103-76 in the finals on Saturday. In the win over Point Park, five Lady Eagles scored in double figures, led by Freshman Kristal Daniels with 20 points and 18 rebounds and Sophomore Whitney Lykens with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Other double figure scorers included Belicia Mullins (13 pts), Amy Jackson (14 pts, 9 rebs), and Chastity Fox (11 pts, 6 assists). Taran Cody and Elisha Hall each scored 2 points.
In the finals on Saturday, Lykens had another good game with 23 points. Daniels had another double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Mullins had 18 points and 9 assists, followed by Cody with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Hall chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Other stats: Jackson (9 pts, 3 rebs), Fox (3 pts, 6 assists), Jamie Bonza (2 pts, 2 assists), Kayla Bentley (2 pts), Keisha Johnson (3 pts), and Kaylan Richardson (2 pts, 3 rebs).
The Lady Eagles only game this week will be at Appalachian Bible College on Saturday. They are scheduled to play rival Union College next Tuesday night.

LADY EAGLES BEAT MIDWAY AND ST. LOUIS COLLEGE OF PHARMACY
The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles won two games last week as they won over Midway College, 74-65 and St. Louis College of Pharmacy, 87-54. In the Midway game, the Lady Eagles led 36-27 at halftime. However, Midway cut the deficit to four points late in the game before the Lady Eagles pulled away down the stretch. Five players scored in double figures for the Lady Eagles, led by Freshman center Kristal Daniels who had a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds. Seniors Belicia Mullins (18 points, 3 assists) and Amy Jackson (13 pts and 4 rebs) also had good games. Whitney Lykens had 12 points and Chastity Fox had 11 points and 5 assists. Other stats: Jamie Bonza (2 pts), Taran Cody (5 pts, 3 rebs), Kaylan Richardson (2 pts, 2 rebs), and Elisha Hall (3 rebs).
On Saturday, the Lady Eagles played St. Pharmacy Pharmacy on a neutral court at IU-Southeast in New Albany, IN. They led 34-21 at halftime in route to the 87-54 win. Mullins (18 pts), Keisha Johnson (13 pts, 3 rebs) and Bonza (12 pts, 7 assists) were in double figures for the Lady Eagles. Other stats: Lykens (5 pts, 4 rebs), Daniels (6 pts, 8 rebs), Jackson (5 pts, 2 rebs), Fox (4 pts, 5 assists), Kayla Bentley (3 pts, 1 reb), Cody (2 pts, 4 rebs), Abby Shaffer (2 pts), Richardson (9 pts, 3 rebs), Whitaker (2 pts), and Hall (6 pts, 11 rebs). Tabatha Sprouse also saw action in the game.
The Lady Eagles will host Appalachian Bible on Monday. They will travel to Kentucky Christian University on Thursday and they will host Bethel College on Saturday.

The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles played three games last week. On Monday night they won over Appalachian Bible College (WV), by the score of 90-25. They grabbed the lead early and led 43 -10 at halftime in route to the win. On Thursday night, the Lady Eagles traveled to Grayson to play Kentucky Christian University. It was a very close game throughout. The Lady Eagles trailed by only 2 points at halftime. However, they were unable to find the basket in the second half, losing by the score of 78-67. Lykens (21 pts) and Daniels (13 pts) were the only players in double figures. Other scoring: Bonza, 4 pts; Mullins, 6 pts; Fox, 9 pts; Adams, 6 pts; Richardson, 2 pts; and Jackson, 6 pts.
On Saturday, the Lady Eagles hosted Bethel College in their third KIAC conference game of the year. The Lady Eagles trailed 38-36 at halftime. They were outscored 42-31 in the second half in route to an 80-67 loss. Richardson (13 pts) and Lykens (11 pts, 6 rebs) led the way for the Lady Eagles. Other stats: Daniels (4 pts, 3 rebs), Jackson (6 pts, 7 rebs), Mullins (8 pts), Fox (4 pts, 5 assists), Bonza (4 pts, 2 assists), Bentley (4 pts), Cody (5 pts, 4 rebs), Johnson (3 pts, 4 rebs), Shaffer (3 pts), and Hall (2 pts, 2 rebs).
This coming Saturday, the Lady Eagles are scheduled to host Indiana University-Southeast @ 4:00. Next Tuesday, they will travel to Bristol, VA to play Virginia Intermont College.
