ALC Cross Country Teams Compete at Kentucky Christian University

Region XII Meet on Schedule for Next Weekend

The Alice Lloyd College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, KY last Saturday.  Other school represented at the meet included Oakland City, Cincinnati Christian, Taccoa Falls, Ohio Valley and Georgetown.  The Eagles finished 5th in the meet; however, Jeff Musgrave finished 6th overall (29:27) and Steven Call (30:47) finished 14th.  Tim Estes (23rd, 32:28), Josh Dean (26th, 36:32) and Patrick Chambers (27th, 36:38) also ran for the Eagles. Jessica Drake finished 28th in the women’s race in a time of 26:38.The Region XII meet will take place on November 4 at Sycamore Shouls State Park in Elizabethton, Tennessee.

 

ALICE LLOYD COLLEGE CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS

The Alice Lloyd College men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in meets at Rio Grande University in Rio Grande, Ohio last Saturday.  Other schools represented at the meets included Alderson-Broaddus, Walsh, West Virginia Tech, Bethany, Davis & Elkins, Ohio Valley, University of Charleston and Kentucky Christian University.  In the men’s 8K run, Jefferson Musgrave led the Eagles with a time of 30 minutes and 19 seconds.  Steven Call was right behind at 30:31.  Tim Estes (33:16) and Josh Dean (36:29) also completed the competition.In the women’s 5K run, Jessica Drake finished at 27:23 and Mara Biliter finished at 27:53.  Each runner from both teams finished the day with their own personal best for this season. The next meet will be October 27 at Kentucky Christian University.

ALC Cross Country Team Competes at Berea

The Alice Lloyd College men’s cross country team competed in the Berea College 8K Invitational last Saturday.  Schools competing included Lindsey Wilson, Berea, Union, UV@Wise, Georgetown, Warren Wilson, Pikeville, Thomas More and Transylvania University. ALC Freshman Steven Call ran his personal best with a time of 31 minutes and 6 seconds to finish 28th in a field of 54 runners.  Jefferson Musgrave finished 30th (31:11).  Bryan Stidham, Tim Estes, Patrick Chambers and Josh Dean also competed for the Eagles.  All six runners improved on their times from the previous weekend.The next meet is scheduled for September 29 at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise.

 

ALC CROSS COUNTRY SEASON BEGINS

    The Alice Lloyd College men’s and women’s Cross Country seasons began last Saturday with a meet at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.  The men’s 8K meet was represented by runners from Centre, ALC, Lindsey Wilson, Georgetown, Union and Kentucky Christian University.  Jeff Musgrave (32:26, 22nd) and Steven Call (32:49, 25th) had the best times for the Eagles.  Other times for ALC runners were:  Tim Estes (36:28, 34th), Bryan Stidham (38:35, 35th), Josh Dean (39:54, 36th) and Patrick Chambers (41:46, 37th).  The Eagles finished 4th, overall. Mara Biliter (28:03, 38th) and Jessica Drake (28:06, 39th) ran for the Lady Eagles in the 5K women’s meet.  In addition to the other schools that ran in the men’s meet, Midway College also participated in the women’s run. The teams are scheduled to participate at Berea College this coming weekend.  Dr. Lafie Crum is beginning his second year as head coach

 

 

ALC CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS RECEIVE PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS

Musgrave and Drake named NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes

Alice Lloyd College cross country runners Jeff Musgrave and Jessica Drake were recently named by the NAIA as All-American Scholar-Athletes for the 2006-07 school year.  Musgrave is from Barbourville, KY and a graduate of Barbourville High School.  Drake is from Campton, KY and a graduate of Wolfe County High School.  In addition to other requirements, a recipient of this award must be a junior academically with a minimum 3.5 cumulative G.P.A.
