Alice Lloyd College holds its annual Appalachia Day Homecoming celebration every second Saturday of October. Hundreds of friends and alumni gather on campus to listen to traditional mountain music and peruse booths displaying the arts and crafts of Appalachian artisans. Other events which take place during this day of fun and fellowship include the annual Alumni Association Meeting, various athletic events, children’s storytelling, an Appalachian writers’ book signing, the induction of new members into the ALC Athletic Hall of Fame, the coronation of the Homecoming Queen and Princess, the traditional soup bean supper, and a special skit by the Alfred and Shirley Wampler Caudill Players.
