Q & A with Morgan
- Why did you choose to attend Alice Lloyd College?
I wanted to attend Alice Lloyd College because of its family-oriented atmosphere. I also loved that everyone knew one another around campus. Alice Lloyd is also focused on leadership, which is very important to me. The moment that I laid eyes on the beautiful campus, took a tour, and met with the Admissions staff, I was hooked!
- Did you tour other colleges and universities? Describe your tour at Alice Lloyd. What made Alice Lloyd College stand out?
I toured many campuses before making my decision to go to Alice Lloyd. At many schools, my tours were short and sweet and the tour guides covered mostly general information. Many campuses were much larger than Alice Lloyd, which only made them more impersonal. The moment that I walked into the Admissions Office at Alice Lloyd I was welcomed! I began my journey with a tour of the campus. This was not an average tour; my guide told me about her experiences and where to hang out on campus, which really made me feel that I could fit in on campus. Then, when my tour was completed, I went back to the Admissions Office for my interview. I was asked questions about myself and why I wanted to go there. I was so excited when I got my acceptance letter, because my experience made me want to go back! What stood out the most for me was the way in which my tour was tailored to my personal needs and interests.
- What’s your major?
Biological Science Education.
- Are you planning on participating in any extracurricular activities?
I am very excited to be a member of the Alice Lloyd College women’s tennis team! I am an officer in the Kentucky Education Association – Student Program (KEA-SP) at ALC, and I actively participate in Baptist Collegiate Ministries.
- What was the one thing you had to bring with you to college?
A picture board, because I am three hours away from home and I want them to remind me that I am always loved. My family provides great encouragement for me! On my picture board, I also have letters from home. The simple things mean the most.
- What do you hope to get out of your college experience?
I want to learn how to be a better leader so that I can use those skills to be a positive role model for the next generation of students!
- After you graduate from ALC, what are your future goals?
My goal is to receive my master’s degree and begin teaching biology at a local school so that I can be a positive example and leader for my students. Our kids are our future!
- What are you most excited about as you begin the next chapter of your life at ALC?
I love the independence that I have at Alice Lloyd. I can do my own thing in a safe and comfortable environment.
