Alice Lloyd College

Kelsey

Hello! I’m Kelsey, an out-of-territory transfer student at Alice Lloyd. I’m currently a junior majoring in Sociology with a minor in Social Science. Alice Lloyd College is helping me reach my goal of one day getting a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling.

I’m originally from Frankfort — Kentucky’s beautiful state capital. I really love living in the gorgeous mountains of Pippa Passes. It’s truly extraordinary that this college is so unique, but still feels like home. I’m so blessed to have been given this great journey at ALC. I love the small, personal atmosphere of the classes, and the professors are all great at what they do. I’ve learned so much here! And the people I’ve met here have become wonderful friends. We have a great time together.

If you want to be a part of a memorable college experience, I encourage you to come and check out this incredible college!

Q & A with Kelsey

  1. Why did you choose to attend Alice Lloyd College?
I’ve known many people who have attended college at ALC. After they told me about all of the wonderful things about this school, I knew I had to check it out for myself. I did some more research into the College and found out that I could work to pay for tuition while receiving a high quality education. Working while going to college will no doubt help me better prepare myself for my future. I couldn’t let that chance slip out of my hands!
  2. What influenced you to transfer to Alice Lloyd? What made ALC different?
ALC is a small, private college that sets high standards for its students. That was extremely attractive to me, and it’s what set it apart from the other schools that I had originally attended. Because of this, I knew that ALC would be a good fit for me.
  3. What’s your major?
My major is Sociology with a minor in Social Science.
  4. Are you planning on participating in any extracurricular activities?
I’m involved in the Baptist Collegiate Ministries Leadership Team and the Voices of Appalachia. I love being a part of the BCM Leadership Team, because we plan a lot of ministry events, take mission trips, and work to spread the gospel throughout campus. The choir has also been a wonderful experience due to the on-campus concerts we do and the opportunity it has given me to travel. Every spring we go on tour. This year we toured areas in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
  5. What was the one thing you had to bring with you to college?
My Bible. It’s one of my most precious possessions. I want to continue to grow and strengthen my relationship with God while I’m on this journey at ALC.
  6. What do you hope to get out of your college experience?
I want to become a better student and ready myself for the workforce. I want my experiences to teach me to be a better person so I can do well in my career. So far, I have gained knowledge and made important connections for my future career. I’ve also made some amazing friends along the way.
  7. After you graduate from ALC, what are your future goals?
I want to further my education by getting a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling. I hope to have a career as a teen counselor.
  8. What are you most excited about as you begin the next chapter of your life at ALC?
There have been so many amazing things to happen this year. My favorite would have to be the connections I’ve made with friends and professors. I’ve made some truly great friends, and I’ve made wonderful memories with them. My professors are equally as great, and they always provide a positive learning environment.
