How will I pay for college?

This is one of the chief concerns of every college student. The cost of a college education is rising. According to The Project on Student Debt, a national bi-partisan survey of adults ages 18-34 reveals that young adults today believe a college education is more important than it was for their parents’ generation, but that it has become less affordable in the last five years. As one of the nation’s top work colleges, Alice Lloyd College provides you the opportunity to participate in our Student Work Program so that you may pay your way through college and not amass a crippling amount of student debt.  In fact, participation in our Student Work Program is required – all students work regardless of their academic program or financial situation. Despite the fact that you will be working to pay off the cost of tuition, you might find that you still need money for your college expenses. If you feel you need financial assistance, you should apply for financial aid.

The first and most important step in applying for financial aid is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form can be filled out and sent in anytime after January 1st of each academic year. You should complete this form every year as soon as possible due to the fact that funding is limited. Don’t miss out on any available funds! Submit your form as quickly as you can after January 1st, the sooner the better. The most efficient (and easiest) way to complete and submit this form is to do so online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You will find all of the information you need on the site; however, if you have questions or need help filling out the form, you may contact our Financial Aid Department at (606) 368-6058. If you cannot complete the form online, please drop by the Financial Aid Office on the first floor of the June Buchanan Alumni Center (JBAC) for assistance.

Plenty of scholarships, grants, and loan options are out there for you to discover. For more information on financing your college education, please visit the links below:
