Pikeville, KY; The Alice Lloyd Eagles baseball team traveled to the University of Pikeville to face the Bears on April 17th. Below is a recap.

April 17
ALC – 6 | UP – 16

UPike would score 7 early runs and pull ahead to earn the home victory.

The hosts would score quickly in their opening at-bat to go ahead 7-0. The big blow was a 3-run shot to left field.

ALC would answer in the second inning as they would string together 5 hits and produce 3 runs.  However, they would end the inning with the bases loaded, and the Bears would earn 2 of those runs back in their next at-bat (9-3).

In the Eagles half of the third, 5 more hits yielded 2 runs, but a double play ball with two men on base ended the rally.

The Bears would respond with 4 runs of their own in the same inning to lead, 13-5.

The guests would then add 1 more run, but it was too-little-too-late.

On the day, Juan Lander wielded a big bat as he went 3-4 with 2 RBI

Gay, Cornett, and Reese Ison all knocked a double while Madden added 2 RBI’s to join Lander.

Adam Carnahan took the loss on the mound.

Each squad registered 14 hits on the day.
