Hamilton, OH: The Alice Lloyd Eagles baseball traveled to Hamilton, Ohio for a three-game showdown held on April 6th – 7th. Below is a recap.

April 6
Game 1
ALC – 0 | MH – 13

The hosts scored 3 runs in each of the first two innings and rode that momentum to take the opening game victory.

Hamilton looked solid from the opening pitch as they roared out of the gates with 3 runs in the first and 3 more in the second. They put the game away two innings later with a 4 run fourth.

For ALC, Dalton Cornett and Juan Lander led the squad with 2 hits apiece while Cornett smacked 1 double. The Eagles were held to just 8 hits overall.

Meanwhile, on the mound, pitcher Layne McClure suffered the loss.

ALC hurt themselves considerably with 6 errors.

Game 2
ALC – 9 | MH – 8

The Eagles bounced back in game 2 to win a 9-8 thriller and split for the day.

After Hamilton took a 2-0 lead in their first at-bat, the visitors would earn 1 run back in the second (2-1).

Alice Lloyd would then respond to Miami’s 2 run fifth inning with 3 runs in the fifth and 3 more in the sixth and take a 7-4 lead into their last at-bat.

The Eagles helped themselves immensely when they added 2 runs in the seventh to pull ahead 9-4. They would need every one of those runs as the hosts made a valiant comeback attempt.

MH would score 4 runs in their final at-bat, but ALC would get the clutch third out they needed to seal the nice victory.

On the day, Dalton Cornett came up big as he finished 4-5 at the plate with 3 RBI’s and one blast over the left field wall.

Chase Madden and Noah Dingess would each finish 2-4 from the plate. Madden and Alex White also adding 2RBI’s to the cause, as a double from White proved valuable. Dingess and Hayden Martin both knocked a timely double as well.

Chance Cornett earned the victory on the hill for Alice Lloyd with 8 strikeouts in six innings of work. Jaycob Banks entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the contest in relief.

The Eagles finished with 14 hits and 3 errors.

April 7
ALC – 6 | MH – 13

The hosts spread their scoring out to earn the rubber match and take the series, 2 games to 1.

Alice Lloyd got out to a good start with 3 runs, only to see Hamilton match that production in their opening at-bat.

Unfortunately, MH would spread 8 more runs over the middle innings to pull ahead, 11-3.

ALC would try to respond with 3 runs in the sixth inning, but the deficit was just too deep to overcome on this day.

For ALC, Dalton Cornett finished 2-4 and smacked 2 doubles to lead the way. Ison added a double while White finished with 2 RBI’s.

Meanwhile, on the mound, pitcher Jaycob Banks suffered the loss.

ALC was held to just 5 hits on the day.
