The Alice Lloyd Eagles baseball team traveled to Marietta (GA) for a three-game series against Trinity Baptist College. Below are recaps of each game.

MARCH 20
ALC – 8 | Trinity Baptist – 9

Alice Lloyd overcame an early 5 run deficit, only to watch Trinity bounce back and win in their last at-bat.

In the opener, TBC smashed two doubles and jumped out to a quick 5-0 advantage.

ALC earned runs back in both the third and fourth innings on the strength of RBI singles from Peyton Buford and Juan Lander.

Trailing 5-2 entering the fifth, the Eagles took advantage of 2 singles and 2 Trinity errors to score 1 run and load the bases. Next, when Garrett Gay unloaded on a fastball and smashed it over the left field fence, the visitors suddenly led 7-5.

Alice Lloyd would continue their momentum in the sixth when Alex White’s single scored the eighth run of the day. The Eagles appeared to be in great shape.

Trailing 8-5 and batting with one out in the seventh, Trinity got two base hits that produced one run. Later, Christian Amlong tied the game with a two-run single.

An RBI single from Carlos Sanchez in the bottom of the eighth completed the comeback for the home club.

In the top of the ninth, both Dalton Cornett and Chance Cornett would reach base with only one out. Unfortunately, the Eagles could not produce the one crucial hit they so desperately needed to drive in the runners.

Hayden Martin, Lander, and Dalton Cornett all had 2 hits apiece with Martin rapping a double. Gay led the club with 4 RBI’s.

Chance Cornett suffered the hard-luck loss on the mound.

ALC was outhit 16-10 but helped themselves by committing fewer errors (5-0).
