ALC Golf

Pine Mountain, GA: The ALC Men’s Golf team traveled to Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia for Point University’s Skyhawk Invitational on March 11 and 12.

The field of 13 teams was loaded with NAIA powerhouse clubs, included 5th ranked Point University, #8 the University of South Carolina at Beaufort, #12 St. Thomas University, #15 Truett-McConnell and #25 Southeastern.

The weather was seasonal, a little cool, with a bit of rain, but much better than the last two years at this event.

ALC golfers had a rough go of things on the tricky Bermuda grass course. Isaiah Penley shot an 85 to lead the Eagles in the first round, with the team shooting a 383.

In round two, Aaron Minor paced the squad with a 78, and the team shot 379.

In the final round, Brit Bowling led ALC with an 87, and the team shot 381.

Alice Lloyd finished with a team total of 1143 for the 3 rounds. Point University won the event with a score of 880 with Ruan Pretorius of Point University finishing as the tournament medalist shooting 213. Full results can be found here

Following the tournament at Callaway Gardens, Eagles golfers headed to Hilton Head Island South Carolina for the ALC Men’s Golf Team Championship on March 13/14.

The first round was played at the Shipyard Golf Course on Hilton Head, with Minor shooting an 85 for a 1 stroke lead over Penley.

The second round was played at The Robber’s Row course at the Port Royal Golf Club on Hilton Head.  Minor shot an 80 for a 165 total to win the Royal Blue Jacket. Penley shot a 91 for 177 and second place.
