Haley HallPippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles dynamic guard duo of Haley Hall and Katie Moore combined for 44 points to lead their squad to an impressive 93-67 victory over the visiting Kentucky Christian University Lady Knights. The non-conference match-up took place on Saturday, February 16th on Senior Day.

 Just before the start of the game, the Lady Eagles recognized two important seniors who both have played huge roles during their career. Once center Emilee Harrell and guard Courtney Vasquez were rightfully honored, the game got down to business.

 After a lackluster start, the hosts warmed up. Sparked by six points from Vasquez, they would pull ahead, 19-11. However, the Lady Knights would close on an 8-2 spurt, and only trail 21-19 after one period.

 In the second quarter, the hosts would see six different players score as they opened things on a 20-8 burst to forge ahead, 41-27 with 4:24 showing.

The visitors would continue to battle, but when Alice Lloyd’s Hall swished two free throws just before the half, her club would enter the dressing room nursing a 48-36 advantage.

In the third stanza, the Lady Eagles continued to share the wealth, as their balanced scoring attack continued to play dividends. Over the first portion of the period, they would roll off a run that would quickly propel the hosts to a 64-44 advantage.

Coach John Mills’ ladies would take a commanding 72-54 advantage entering the final frame.

In the final quarter, the visitors briefly reduced the deficit to fourteen points (73-59) barely two minutes in.

Katie MooreHowever, as they often do, Hall and Moore voted to take over. During the next four minutes, the duo would unleash twelve consecutive points. When the dust cleared with 4:28 remaining in the contest, Alice Lloyd had a commanding 85-59 margin and would cruise to the satisfying victory.

For Alice Lloyd (18-8), Hall led the way with 23 points (9-15 FG). She added 5 rebounds and 3 steals.  Her backcourt buddy Moore was right behind with 21 points. She also contributed 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

Vasquez played a solid game as she finished with 15 big points (5-10 FG), and added 3 steals and 3 assists.

ALC shot 48.6% (35-72) from the field and 35 % (7-20) from long range.  They would finish at 88.9% (16-18) from the charity stripe. Additionally, they registered 30 rebounds, 12 assists, and 13 steals.

The Lady Knights (7-24) were led by Sydney Foster with 18 points. Her club connected on 43.9% (25-57) from the field and 33.3% (8-24) from long range. At the foul line, they went 9-11 for 81.8%.  They also had 29 rebounds, 12 assists, and 6 steals.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Wednesday, February 20th, in the Quarter-Final Round of the River States Conference Tournament. The Western Division Champions will host the dangerous University of Rio Grande Red Storm at 7:00 pm. The winner will advance to the semi-finals scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd.
