PIPPA PASSES, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles came back from a 13-point half-time deficit to defeat the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers, 86-77. The River States Conference match-up was played Thursday night.

In the opening half, the visitors came out of the gates with all systems on fire. They drained seven early bombs and were ahead 35-18 with 7:03 remaining. OCU guard Troy Mundy would pour in 19 first half points to lead the onslaught. However, Eagle junior guard Blake Smith would answer with 17 points of his own. Despite Smiths effort, the hosts would still trail 50-37 at intermission.

In the second half, the Eagles would come out of the locker room a different club.

The home fans would receive a late Christmas present as senior guard Ryan House would bag two deep bombs to fuel a 14-0 home squad run over the first four minutes. Suddenly, Alice Lloyd led 51-50 with 16:01 remaining.

Mundy would then inspire his club to answer with a 10-2 burst of their own and give the Trailblazers command at 60-53 with 12:32 left to play.

The Caney Creek boys then rolled up their sleeves and went to work once more with their own response. When sophomore guard Noah Young swished back-to-back hoops, ALC led 62-60 with 8:15 showing.

From that point, the Eagles refused to be denied as they would eventually extend their lead to double figures to chalk the game up in the victory column.

For ALC (7-8; 2-3 RSC), Smith was superb as he sank 13-18 field goals to finish with 32 points. He added 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Young finished 9-15 for 19 points. House added 9 points and joined senior forward Simon Christon with 2 assists apiece while Christon led the club with 7 rebounds.

Alice Lloyd connected on 57.6% (34-59), including 41.7 % (5-12) from long range. From the charity line, they sank 81.3% (13-16). Additionally, they registered 29 rebounds, 2 steals, and 7 assists.

Ohio Christian (5-11; 1-3 RSC) was led by Mundy with 29 points. His club connected on 51.1% (24-47), including 43.5 % (10-23) from long range. From the charity line, they sank 76% (19-25). They also had 21 rebounds, 6 steals, and 8 assists.

The Eagles return to action this weekend as they are home to face the powerful 16th ranked Indiana University East Red Wolves in important conference play. Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm.
