Beckley, WV- The Alice Lloyd Eagles battled the home-standing West Virginia Tech Golden Bears in an RSC matchup Tuesday in Beckley, West Virginia. The hosts, ranked 12th nationally, earned a 105-89 victory.

In the first twenty minutes, ALC came out well and only trailed 19-16 with 12:43 on the clock.

WV Tech would then proceed to go on a huge run. Over the next eight minutes, they would roll off a 29-7 blitz to pull ahead 48-23 at the 4:34 mark. The hosts would lead 55-35 at intermission.

In the second half, the Golden Bears would continue their steady play despite the fact the Eagles battled hard. The visitors shrunk the score to 62-48 at 15:51 following a bomb from senior guard Ryan House, but that was as close as they would get against the league’s top team.

For ALC (7-12; 2-7 RSC), sophomore guard Noah Young led the way with 19 points and 5 assists. He was joined in double figures by junior forward Chance Cornett with 15 points. House and junior guard Blake Smith chipped in with 12 points apiece. Senior forward Simon Christon led the squad with 11 rebounds while House had 2 steals.

On the night, Alice Lloyd shot 45.2% (28-62) from the field and 25.9 % (7-27) from long range. They were also 81.3% (26-32) from the charity stripe. Additionally, they registered 40 rebounds, 15 assists, and 6 steals.

WV Tech (16-3; 7-1 RSC) was led Tommy Collins with 20 points. His club connected on 45.9% (34-74) from the field and 35.7% (15-42) from long range. They sank a blistering 95.7% (22-23) from the charity line and also had 36 rebounds, 20 assists, and 6 steals.

The Eagles return to conference action this weekend when they host the University of Rio Grande Red Storm Saturday at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 19th.
