PIPPA PASSES, Ky:  Junior guard Katie Moore led a balanced scoring attack to propel the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles to a big 89-61 victory over the visiting Welch College Flames. The contest was played Thursday.

In the opening stanza,  the hosts would jump out quickly and lead 26-14 after one. In the second quarter, the Lady Eagles would add to their advantage and take a 46-30 cushion into the locker room. In the third quarter, the home club was able to extend the lead even further (70-47), and in the final ten minute period, the Lady Eagles refused to permit the Flames to get any closer as they cruised to the satisfying victory.

For ALC (6-3), Moore led the way with 22 points on a perfect 7-7 shooting (6-6 from deep), while dishing off 6 assists. Freshman guard Hannah Kash added 16 points of her own while sophomore center  Alex Clifton and sophomore guard Haley Hall added 13 and 12 to the cause. Senior guard Emilee Harrell contributed 10 points. Freshman forward Bailee Brainard snagged 5 rebounds.

For Welch (3-11), Abby Bragg led the way with 15 points.

Overall, the victors shot 47.7% (31-65; 8 -18 threes) from the field and 76% (19-25) from the free throw line, while grabbing 34 boards, handing out 16 assists, and grabbing 9 steals.

WC shot 35% (21-60; 7-16 threes) from the floor and 85.7% (12-14) from the free throw line. They added 32 rebounds, 9 assists, and 4 steals.

The Lady Eagles return to action this Saturday when they host the undefeated Georgetown College Lady Tigers (13-0) at 1:00 pm.
