Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles led from start to finish, placing five players in double figures, to earn a nice 85-72 victory over the visiting Brescia Lady Bearcats Saturday afternoon. The game marks the first River Conference win of the young season for ALC.

In the opening quarter, Lady Eagle junior guard Katie Moore pumped in 7 points to give her squad an early lead. Her last second free throws would give ALC an 18-11 advantage after ten minutes of action.

In the second quarter, the hosts would extend their advantage to as much as 13 (38-25) following an 18 foot swish from sophomore guard Ali May at the 2:28 mark. However, over the next two minutes, the scrappy Lady Bearcats would go on an 8-0 run to inch closer (38-33) before a late bucket from ALC freshman Hannah Kash set the score 40-33 at intermission.

The third period saw Alice Lloyd fight off BU’s runs and maintain their cushion. By the time the horn had sounded to end the stanza, the home club had inched their way to a 63-51 lead.

In the final quarter, the visitors played hard but a determined Alice Lloyd club refused to give ground. They never let the deficit get lower than 8 points and the one time it dwindled that close, two quick buckets righted the ship.

For the victors (3-3; 1-1 RSC), Moore finished with 18 points. She added 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Kash came up with 15 points and added 5 rebounds and 3 assists.  May finished with 12 points while the sophomore duo of center Alex Clifton and guard Haley Hall chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively. Hall added 3 more assists while senior center Emilie Harrell added team-highs of 7 rebounds and 2 steals.

The victors finished the night shooting 47.7% (31-65) from the field including 33.3 % (8-24) from behind the arc. They sank 83.3% (15-18) from the charity stripe and added 41 rebounds, 17 assists, and 6 steals.

BU (2-8; 1-1 RSC) was paced by Catherine Dunn with her game-high 21 points. Her squad shot just 27.8% (20-72) from the field and 34.8% (8-23) from deep. They finished at 80% (24-30) from the charity stripe and added 40 rebounds, 7 assists, and 10 steals.

The Lady Eagles return to the hardwood this week for two huge conference games. On Tuesday, they travel to Cincinnati Christian on Tuesday at 5:30 pm and then return home for a matchup on Saturday against Indiana University Kokomo at 1:00 pm.
