Hiwassee, TN: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles took to the road to face an undefeated Hiwassee Lady Tiger squad. In a contest that was close throughout, the hosts earned the 73-65 victory.
In the opening quarter, the two squads would trade hoops as neither led by more than three points. ALC managed to pull ahead 16-15 by quarters end.
In the second stanza, the Lady Tigers would lead by a few points most of the way and would take a 36-33 advantage at intermission.
As the third period began, behind the play of guard J’Lynn Majors, HC would open thing on a 13-3 run to take their largest lead of the night at 49-36. They would settle for a 56-49 cushion entering the final stanza.
The last period would see Hiwassee extend their advantage to eleven (60-49) before ALC made their move. When Eagle junior guard Katie Moore bagged a jumper at the 2:17 mark, the deficit was reduced to just three (67-64). The guests would get two good looks to tie the score but came up short on both attempts. Hiwassee would then close the game out in the final 30 seconds with free throws.
For the victors (6-0), four players reached double figures. Majors led the way with her game-high 23 points
ALC (1-2) was led by Moore with 12 and sophomore forward Alex Clifton with 11. Clifton led the club with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Freshman guard Hannah Kash added 9 points and led the way with 3 steals while sophomore guard Haley Hall chipped in with 8 points and 6 rebounds. Moore, Kash, and junior forward Jayla Spurlock all had 2 assists.
Alice Lloyd finished shooting just 35.9% (23-64) from the field and 30.8% (8-26) from deep while connecting on 57.9% (11-19) from the foul line. They also added 45 rebounds, 11 assists, and 15 steals.
HC finished shooting 39.4% (26-66) from the floor and 13.3% (2-15) from behind the arc. They shot 70.4% (19-27) from the foul line. They also added 49 big rebounds, 19 assists, and 14 steals
Alice Lloyd plays their next game on Monday, November 19th when they host the same Hiwassee Lady Tiger squad at 6:00.
