Welch, TN:  Senior Emilie Harrell scored a game-high 18 points to lift the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles to a 72-57 victory over the home-standing Welch College Lady Flames on Friday, November 9th.

In the opening quarter, ALC came out tight and the hosts took advantage.  Welch totally controlled the period and roared to a 24-12 cushion after ten minutes of action.

In the second stanza, the Lady Eagles would wake up and put the defensive clamps on. They outscored the Flames 21-9 and the squads would enter the locker room at intermission tied at 33.

As the third period began, neither side could gain an advantage. ALC would eventually grab the lead and hold it the majority of the way. At the conclusion of the segment, the visitors led 51-37.

The last quarter belonged to the Lady Eagles as they would quickly bump their lead out to double digits and maintain their cushion the rest of the way. At games end, they had earned the nice 15 point win.

 For Alice Lloyd (1-1), Harrell came up huge as the center pumped in 8-10 field goals and both free throws for 18 points. She added 5 rebounds. Sophomore guard Haley Hall pumped in 15 points and completed a double-double by snagging 11 rebounds. She also added a game-high 5 assists. Also reaching double figures was freshman guard Hannah Kash, who rammed in 14 points while adding a game-high 7 steals.

WC (1-3) was led by guards Caitlyn Braxton and Abby Bragg, each with 15 points.

ALC finished shooting 37.5% (27-72) from the field and 31% (4-25) from deep while connecting on 63.6% (14-22) from the foul line. They also added 50 rebounds, 15 assists, and 14 steals.

The Flames finished shooting 32.3% (21-65) from the floor and 28.6% (4-14) from behind the arc. They also shot 73.3% (11-15) from the foul line while adding 44 rebound, 13 assists, and 10 steals.

ALC returns to action this Saturday when they journey to Madisonville (TN) to battle the Hiwassee College Lady Tigers at 2:00 pm.
