Welch, TN:  Four players reached double figures as the visiting Alice Lloyd Eagles earned their second victory of the young season by mowing down the Welch College Flames 102-81 on Friday, November 9th.

In the opening half, fueled by the potent punch of junior duo, Chance Cornett and Blake Smith, the Eagles would quickly grab the lead. Alice Lloyd would see the hosts refuse to roll over, but the visitors would enter the dressing room at intermission with a 48-38 cushion.

In the second half, Alice Lloyd would come out well as sophomore guard Noah Young would also get in on the action. ALC would steadily increase their lead and roll to the big 21 point victory.

For the victors (2-2), Cornett led the way with his game-high 21 points on 7-12 shooting. The forward was followed closely by Smith and Young, each with 19 points. The duo also combined to sink 16-22 attempts. Sophomore guard Austin Combs added 10 points. Both Cornett and Young would register double-doubles as they recorded 11 and 10 rebounds respectively. Smith would dish out 7 assists from his guard position.

WWC (0-5) was led by Luke Charlton with 19 points.

For the game, the winners shot a solid 52.6% (40-76) including 33.3% (9-27) from three-point land. They were also 61.9 % (13-21) from the foul line. They added 58 rebounds, 22 assists, and 5 steals.

The Flames shot 38.4% (28-73) including just 15.4% (4-26) from long range. They were also 77.8 % (21-27) from the foul line while adding 32 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals.

Alice Lloyd returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Campbellsville to face the always tough Campbellsville University Tigers at 7:00 pm. They follow that up with a huge challenge on Thursday as they play the NCAA DII University of Virginia-Wise Cavaliers at 7:00 pm in another road contest.
