Beckley, WV: On Saturday, October 20th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball squad traveled to Appalachian Bible to face the home-standing Lady Warriors as well as the Welch College Lady Flames.

In the opening game, the Eagles looked impressive in a 25-12 blowout. However, Welch turned the tables in game 2 as they battled to a 25-19 victory. In game 3, the two clubs fought hard before the Flames pulled away late for the 25-21 win. Game 4 showed grit from both squads as the set went extra points before WC pulled out the hard-fought, 29-27 decision.

On the day for ALC, juniors Lindsey Perkins, Alexis Napier, and Samantha Sturgill all had big games. Perkins led in kills with 14, Napier led in digs with 22, and Sturgill paved the way in assists with 38. Freshman Sara Howard tied for the kills lead with 14 while fellow freshman Madison Fralix contributed 12 of her own.

 In the second match, the Eagles took over late in Game 1 to win 25-22. Both clubs looked evenly matched once more in game 2 before the hosts squeaked by with a 25-22 victory. In game 3, ABC pulled away for the solid 25-14 win. Game 4 showed true competitive spirit as the set went down to the wire before ALC pulled out the 25-23 victory. In the Game 5 nail biter, the competitors refused to give an inch, but the host club finally took the hard fought 15-13 decision.

On the day for ALC, junior Alexis Napier, led with 13 kills and added 21 digs while classmate Samantha Sturgill led the way in assists with 28. Freshman Sara Howard contributed 20 digs to the cause while junior Lindsey Perkins and freshman Madison Fralix tied with 9 kills apiece.

ALC returns to the court this Saturday when they travel to Johnson (TN) to face Johnson University and Welch College.
