The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball squad hit the road for two contests over the weekend. On Friday they faced the home standing Berea Lady Mountaineers and they followed that up on Sunday with a matchup at Miami Middletown. Below are recaps of each contest.

August 15th

 Berea, KY: On August 15th, the Lady Eagles volleyball team journeyed to Berea College. In the opening game, the two squads were knotted at 4-4 before the hosts went on a 14-4 run to pull away and win 25-12.

The Eagles looked solid in game 2 and only trailed 16-13 before the Lady Mountaineers ended the game with a late flurry to win 25-19.

BC had a battle on their hands from start to finish in game 3 in what proved to easily be the best set of the day. Unfortunately, the hosts were able to hold on in a nail-biter, as they earned a 25-22 match-clinching win.

On the day for the ALC, junior Lindsey Perkins led the squad with 6 kills and 12 digs while fellow junior Samantha Sturgill was solid with 5 kills, 5 assists, and 6 digs. Freshman Sarah Howard led once more in the assists category as she handed out 10 and chipped in with 3 aces.

August 17th

ALC looked impressive as they totally dominated their opponent from start to finish by playing solid volleyball. In the opening game, the Lady Eagles roared out of the gate on a 9-0 run and were never challenged in a 25-5 romp. In game 2, the home team jumped out 4-2 only to watch the tide turn. ALC would swiftly go on a huge run and ice the game at 25-10. The game 3 match was more of the same as Alice Lloyd was determined to end the contest in a sweep. They were never threatened as they won handily, 25-10.

On the day for the victors (4-6), junior Samantha Sturgill registered 6 kills, 5 assists, and 7 digs while freshman Sarah Howard would pave the way with 14 assists, and 11 digs. Junior Lindsey Perkins chipped in with 8 digs and 5 kills while freshman Madison Fralix had 3 aces.
