Pippa Passes, KY: On Saturday, August 25th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team under the guidance of Coach Nathan Hall, opened the new season by hosting a tri-match at home against Hiwassee (TN) and Boyce College (KY). The game marked the first official contest to be played in the new ALC Campus Center. Below are summaries of each game.

Game 1

In the opening game, the two squads battled before the visitors pulled away down the stretch to win 25-20. The Tigers looked solid in game 2 and earned a 25-13 victory. In game 3, they broke open a close early game to win 25-16 and take the straight set victory.

On the day for the hosts, junior Emily Johnson led the club in kills with 6 while junior Haley Smith paved the way with 3 digs. Freshman Aislynn Trompler led in the assists category as she handed out 6.

Game 2

In the opening game, the two squads stayed close before the visitors pulled away with a late flurry down the stretch to win 25-18. Boyce was dominant in game 2 and earned a solid 25-11 decision. The hosts woke up in a well-played game 3 match and earned the 25-19 win. In game 4, the excitement would build as the two clubs battled at a feverish pace, The Lady Eagles would come back from a deficit to lead 25-24, only to watch the Bulldogs score the last three points to close the game and match.

On the day for the hosts, freshman Sarah Howard would pave the way with 4 kills while junior Alexis Napier led the way with 6 digs. Freshman Aislynn Trompler led in the assists category as she handed out 9.

ALC (0-2) returns to action Friday when they journey to Knoxville, TN to face Crown College at 7:00 pm. They will return home on Tuesday, September 4th when they battle Appalachia Bible College at 6:00 pm.
