We award the Eagles Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor to freshman softball player Mercedez Gilliam.
Gilliam, a native of Mooresburg, Tennessee, was impressive on the mound at NCAA DII opponent, Oakland City University.
Gilliam typically plays second base but was called upon to pitch her first full game of the season. In the 3-1 defeat to the Oaks, she allowed just 8 hits and 3 earned runs and helped her club stay in contention until the end. She struck out 2 batters and walked only 1.
