The ALC Eagles golf team played in the RSC Golf Championship at Lassing Pointe Golf Course in Union, Kentucky on April 23rd and 24th. The format for the event was three rounds. However, the event was played 27 holes per day for the two days rather than 36 holes the first day and 18 holes the second day, which is the usual format for such an event. Eagles golfers shot 330 for the first round to stand 9th of the 12 teams participating. After completion of the second round on the second day, Eagles golfers stood 7th of 12, shooting 321 for the second round. Eagles shot 324 for the third round to finish the tournament at 975 for the three rounds, good for 7th of 12. This is our best finish ever, and we finished ahead of Point Park for the first time.

Senior Jared Albright led the Eagles’ team, shooting 80/82/77 for a 239 total, good for a tie for 14th place of the 63 golfers participating. Sophomore Aaron Minor shot 83/79/78 for a total of 240 for a tie for 19th place. Senior Tyler Brewer shot 79/77/97 for 253 and 45th place with his third round performance limited by a leg injury he suffered the night before the round. Freshman Reece Ison shot 89/83/85 for 256 and 47th place and freshman Isaiah Penley shot 89/83/86 to finish at 258 and a tie for 51st.

Brescia University won the tournament shooting 321/311/306 for a three-round total of 938. Austin Taylor of Cincinnati Christian University was the medalist, shooting 79/69/77 to finish at 225 for the three rounds, tied with Austin Mitchell of Midway University. Taylor won in a playoff. Results for the tournament are listed here.

This was senior Jared Albright’s last college golf tournament. Jared was the first golfer signed by Coach Hamilton and has been a solid leader for the team for the last 4 years, winning all-conference and multiple all-tournament team honors, as well as being a three-time ALC men’s golf champion. We greatly appreciate Jared’s contribution to the team and we will miss him very much. We wish Jared all the best for the future.
