Pippa Passes, KY. –  The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles hosted Asbury University on Tuesday in a doubleheader.

GAME 1
AU – 9 | ALC – 1

In game one, the hosts got off to a quick start as McKenzie Brewer blasted a home run to center field. They then followed with back to back doubles but were unable to add to the lead.

From that point, Asbury scored 3 times in both the second and third innings to jump ahead 6-1 and their pitching settled down.  Additionally, they were helped by several crucial ALC errors. AU would then add 3 more insurance runs over the later innings to close out the contest.

The home club was only outhit 10-7, but could not muster the crucial hit when they most needed it. The hosts left 8 runners stranded on either second or third base in the contest. Brewer led the way going 2-2, including her home run.

Kaitlyn Clark-Wyatt suffered the loss on the mound. She allowed 10 hits over five innings and walked 2.

Deena Phillips earned the win allowing 1 run and 7 hits.

GAME 2
AU – 12 | ALC – 1

In game two, Asbury struck early with 2, 2, and 6 runs over the first three innings to pull away.

The host Eagles dented the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth as Jada Estep doubled and was driven in by a grounder from Mercedez Gilliam. Alice Lloyd had multiple runners on base throughout the contest as Asbury pitchers walked numerous batters, but for the second consecutive game, the big hit could not be found when most needed. In the two games combined, they left a multitude of runners stranded on base which contributed to their downfall. Kaitlyn Clark Wyatt added a single for the only other hit of the day.

Morgan Albury suffered the loss on the mound. She allowed 7 hits and 11 runs over four innings and struck out 4.

Paige Hill earned the win allowing 1 run and 2 hits.
